the haiku as cinema

A growing collection of haiku films

Nature; observations; present tense; As an English major in college, I found myself pining for a way to express my point of view in a way that made sense to me—and then I took a course on Eastern philosophy and haiku.

Inspired by the work of Richard Wright and many traditional Japanese authors, I discovered a voice of my own in the style of haiku. The immediacy of the prose, paired with a strong emphasis on one’s experience in the natural world, demonstrates a clarity I seek daily.

I hope you enjoy these short films. - JC
